“Blank Stare” Paintings by Lu Cong

I’m continually amused by pharmaceutical ads.  Not only are the most recondite diseases presented as if there is an epidemic, but the disclaimers list so many gruesome side effects that one starts to feel sick just watching them.

My all time favorite is the ad for Restasis; a wonder drug to combat “dry eye”.  Apologies to all of my readers who are afflicted, but I want to put my eye out watching that doctor’s syrupy concern on camera.  I don’t know a yoga instructor, therapist, or spiritual guide who could touch it. And in the category of “truth is stranger than fiction”, it turns out that Dr. Alison Tendler is an actual eye doctor from Sioux Falls, North Dakota!

Artist Lu Cong is undeniably a genius, but his portraits do make me think of Visine.
